This looks like a lot of fun.
Like I said, it’s interesting that I would find it while we were discussing the subject. 😀 I’ll have to watch the rest of them later.
If these guys see themselves as the “Myth Busters” of “zombie science”, then they’re just kidding themselves. Totally unrealistic experiments.
1) The gel isn’t even oblong, like a human head
2) Coconuts are harder than the human cranium.
3) With a zombie, you don’t get as many chances to hit as this guy was getting.
My thing is how hard do you have to whack a zombies brain to “Kill” it. I’ve seen movies where a decent bump on the old noggin will put a zombie down. But if you watch that movie “La Horde” you’re going to have to do some serious damage to the head to get the zombie to stop trying to kill you.
I think that’s more realistic. The human head and brain are not particularly fragile or we’d all be dead by now. Why would zombies be more fragile than humans?
Decomposition
Your body is in a constant state of breaking down. When we’re alive, our bodies are actively fighting the effects of autolysis and bacterial breakdown by producing new cells and tissue, as well as actively inhibiting the decomposition process. The instant we die, those processes stop, and we begin to rot *immediately*. Even a 1-day old corpse is more fragile than a living human.
Cracking open a zombie’s head as it’s lunging after your throat is probably a lot harder than you would think.
A really well thought out Zombie Mythbusters like show would be really cool
it may be difficult, but that was a strictly non-scientific examination of the subject. Too many other factors interfered with getting accurate results. They didn’t standardize the bat swings, the direction of attack, there were no quality controls.
The real Mythbusters would spit at these guys.
They start using a more accurate target in later episodes. Plus, if the weapon they’re using can do some damage to a coconut what chance do you think a zombie’s skull will have?
You underestimate the effect of object shape on difficulty to break. To many factors left uncontrolled for it to be a really useful experiment.
