I don’t know why but I love ruining fairy tales for my children. LOVE IT. That’s because I find fairy tales so bizarre. Nobody acts in real life the way they are portrayed in those tales. It’s just weird to me.
Or possibly I’m a bit of an asshole and simply can’t stand that people like things and feel an inherent need to ruin their enjoyment….. That’s possible. I’ll admit it grudgingly.
You need to read the actual Grimm fairy tales, it’s not all happily ever afters n stuff. May make for a more enjoyable read for yourself lol.
I have read those actually. It’s one of the reasons I like to ruin the “Disney” version of those stories for my kids.
A future installment of my “Story Time” will have me going off on the Real Little Mermaid story.
It will be interesting to know your daughters reaction to the story Carter.
Most of those Disney fairy tales have it coming. Of course, I must admit to telling my English teacher how idiotic Shakespeare was, and insisting on rewriting a few of them to be how they would have really turned out: MacBeth – the King ordered his men to execute MacBeth and his family to prevent the prophecy, Hamlet – He killed his uncle and his mom as soon as he found out what happened to his father, and Romeo and Juliet – As soon as they got married they went to the prince of the city and let him know why they had done it. The prince promptly informed the families the two were under his protection, and if the rest of them did not behave, he would have all of them but Romeo and Juliet executed.
Well, inbreeding (or rather, not to) is an important lesson, after all.
I have a picture of a painting done of an entire Royal family in my collection somewhere.
Everyone has the same chinless face. Women, men, and children. It’s creepy.
Queen Victoria’s (somewhat) enduring legacy.
I think I really like this fairy tale.. and iagree with the royal in breeding. Lol.. I now know why your son is the way he is. Lol.. you’re evil!
I think that is his daughter. And the kids need to learn that the world does not tolerate happily ever after.
‘As Snake-eyes lay unconcious at the feet of the evil Baroness, Scarlet rushed to cover his body with her own.
” I will have my revenge!” cries the Baroness as she pulls the trigger. Scarlet collapses, blood pouring from her head wound.
As the Baroness aims the gun at the prone Snake-eyes Destro rushes into the room. “Baroness stop!” he commands. “Snake-eyes didn’t kill your brother! I was there that day! Only the Kalishnakov had the fire power to get through his armor. Snake-eyes killed the men who killed your brother”
The Baroness hears the truth in Destros words and sees that all the years plotting her revenge and all the evil she has committed to reach this exact end were for naught.
When Snake-eyes regains conciousness he finds Scarlet almost lifeless on the ground. He pulls her to him, cradles her in his arms and with tears in his eyes, says his first word. “S-Sc-SCARLET!”
“But why didn’t Destro tell the Baroness years ago that Snake-eyes didn’t kill her brother?” asks my daughter.
“Not sure honey, but that is a great question to ask Marvel. Let’s write a letter.”
It is amazing how far I can make it into these stories before my wife figures out what I am really doing. Both daughters are very versed in the Fairy tales of GI Joe, Wolverine, Hulk and the Spiderman.
That is awesome! I too love to see how far I can get in my “BS” before my family figures it out. It’s my new favorite sport.
Miserably ever after! 🙂
A girl has to kiss many frogs before finding the actual prince, so Thanks for analysing this bitter cum better truth 😀
Hahaha I so loved it!
