DIY Necronomicon Prop “Evil Dead” Book Of The Dead

I found this pretty cool tutorial about making your very own Necronomicon and had to share.

(This is where I get stupidly defensive as I think this tutorial is pretty cool)

Sure it’s not quite as ambitious as my Super Awesome Necronomicon Tutorial of Evil, but it’s not bad…. I guess. If you don’t want to spend hours and hours obsessing over details till your wife threatens to divorce you and your children forget what you look like. But that’s commitment damn it! I regret nothing!

Yes mine took decidedly longer. But hey, when your dealing with capricious old ones who are very likely to drive you mad and devour you, you should probably be careful about quality control.

(End mock defensiveness)

On the plus side this process will take you a bit less time than mine, and at least your marriage will be saved. Good Job.

You Can’t Spell “Consummate Professional” without “Consume”

Seeing as the Necronomicon is actually a made up book in the writings of H.P. Lovecraft what do you think the odds are that it would have anything in it about stopping a zombie apocalypse?

I’m going to guess probably not good odds. In fact the Necronomicon is supposed to contain accounts of the “Old Ones” and various rituals for summoning them. Who knows how much info it has about zombies at all.

Someone is going to have to perform a seance to summon the spirit of H.P. Lovecraft so we can question him… Also I want his autograph.

Soooo take the most awkward time of your entire life, your first sex education class, and put a Lovecraftian spin on it and that’s exactly what this short film is all about.

As a huge fan of H.P. Lovecraft I laughed and laughed until I wept my incredibly manly tears. The disgustingness of our own normal human bodies has never been more amusing.

Fair warning: There’s nothing bad in this video, but if your particularly prudish or you were excessively traumatized by your formative years you may want to skip it.

It’s a good thirteen minutes long, but so worth it.

Our Zombie Hunters research the Necronomicon for ways to fight zombies with Eldritch Consequences.

There is something awesomely horrifying about the idea of messing with forbidden powers that warp and twist you into some kind of vile monster.

What? You don’t think so? Well then I guess you won’t be moving with me to Innsmouth then will you. Your loss though, I hear they have great seafood there.

Poor Cthulhu, you spend all that time waiting for the stars to be right, You finally get some gullible cultists to give you a boost, and what do see when you finally hit the mainland?

Zombies.

Now there’s no one left to turn mad. Sure you could still devour the zombies, but that much decaying flesh in your diet is bound to give you incredible gas. Cthulhu’s gas would be powerfully bad.

The Necronomicon… It’s NOT Porn

You would think that that would be a very obvious statement, but Japan is a weird place and I’ve…. seen… things. Things that once seen cannot be unseen… No matter how much I drink to kill the pain.

Here’s something else that the Necronomicon is NOT, it’s not real. Sadly the Necronomicon is a fictional book first thought up in H.P. Lovecraft’s story “The Hound” which was written in 1922.  It’s a literary device to create mood and mystery in some of Lovecraft’s short stories.

“But, Carter!” You say, “I picked up a copy at my local Barnes and Nobles last week and I’m currently summoning the old ones to finish my chores so I can play more video games.”

Again, sadly no. What you probably have in your hands is one of the many hoaxes that have been made over the years. The most likely one being the “Simon Necronomicon” that was put together in the 70′s by two guys in a Brooklyn book store who were really into a lot of drugs If I remember the story right.

There are people out there determined to believe it’s a real book though and not a literary device by a horror writer… People are weird.

Sorry to disapoint, but if your still interested in having a copy of the Necronomicon why not just follow my own tutorial and make a Necronomicon of your own. It’s Crazy fun.

Also there is this, I posted it before but it’s so awesome it deserves a further look.
