Remember that scene in “The Walking Dead” when they cover themselves in Zombie Guts to hide from the zombies and it works? Were you like me and wondered out loud, WHY THE HELL DON’T YOU A-HOLES DO THAT EVERYDAY?!
Come on! They found a way to get around the zombies, just roll around in zombie goo for a while and you’re good to go. But they rarely do.
My theory is that in The Walking Dead universe the same virus that animates the dead also seems to short circuit the part of the brain that’s in charge of common sense.
Oh well! With Death Cologne your problems are solved. In fact this is even better. Why cover yourself in guts, germs, and dirty filthy goo when you can just smell like you did.
Apocalypse over! We did it! Humanity saved!
It would make the show a bit more boring of course. UNLESS!… it was filmed in smellovision.
That was a real thing once kids, ask your parents.
So I’ve had back to back conventions… Then the flu and bronkitis. That’s hell on the comic and my output. Don’t worry I “almost” a healthy human being now and will start with the newest story arc for the comic on Friday. In the meantime. Here’s some pictures of the nonsense I get up too.
This is the “Are You Zombie Ready” panel I was on at FanX. Holy cow if I had a nickle for every time I advocated wholesale murder and cannibalism during the zombie apocalypse I could quit my day job. After this panel no less than three people told on me to my wife that my “Zombie Plan” was to kill all the men and acquire as many potential mates as would fit in my zombie fortress.
The Jokes on them however, as she was already well aware of my plans.
That weird dude at the bottom….. Yeah that’s me.
I do a lot of custom sketch work for people at conventions. Below are a few of my favorites from the FanX 2016 weekend. My personal favorite is the zombified sketch of Brigham Young. I live in Utah and I’m honestly surprised I don’t get this request as often as I should.
Clicker Zombie Makeup Tutorial from Freakmo. This is a pretty detailed zombie makeup tutorial for a Clicker Zombie from the game “The Last Of Us.”
Freakmo goes into detail on how she sculpted, cast, and painted the fungoid mask for this epic cosplay. Materials are mentioned as well. This is a great tutorial for anyone considering doing something more ambitious than just the average “raccoon eyes” zombie makeup you see so often.
If you haven’t played “The Last Of Us” and are wondering what a “Clicker” is:
“Clickers” is the nickname given to humans in the third stage of the Ophiocordyceps Unilateralis infection. They have had prolonged exposure to the fungus and are completely blind. Navigation is still possible using an adaptive echolocation, similar to that of most bats. This makes an eerie clicking sound, thus earning Clickers their nickname.
I’ve been doing a lot of sculpting and casting in resin over the last year. I can really appreciate the amount of work that went into making the mold for this clicker zombie makeup tutorial. This is a multi-part mold and she’s casting in layers. Her comments on painting techniques are very informative as well. Holy cow though, that is a lot of work for one mask.
This makes my own zombie makeup efforts look like amateur hour. Visit her youtube channel if you are interested in upping your cosplay game. Especially when it comes to makeup and special effects. You can subscribe to the rest of Freakmo’s makeup tutorials here.
Fair warning of course. The makeup tutorials on her channel are pretty grisly. Everything from zombies to severed fingers. I’m grossed out and obsessed with them. To be expected with zombie makeup, but you have been warned.
Also if you don’t like gory zombie effects what are you doing here?
