True Tales Of A Cartoonist: Bronies
on September 10, 2012 at 3:00 amTrue tales of a cartoonist… I’m pretty sure my daughter is trying to turn me into a “Brony.” She’s seven and very excited about sharing “My Little Pony” with her daddy. Because friendship is magical.
I’m doing my best to resist it, but I do like good flash animation so it’s hard.
Why ponies, damn it?! Why couldn’t the creators of that show put their efforts into something a little more manly…. like… facial hair, monster trucks, or poor personal hygiene. I’m sure they could have made a good kids show based on that. Nope. They made it about My Little Pony, and my daughter loves it. And now I’m doomed and have to watch it with her… and it’s growing on me… like fungus.
I suddenly have this weird urge to over-compensate now. Like maybe I should watch a tonne of NASCAR and drink heavily. Except I don’t drink and watching people constantly driving left is utterly uninteresting to me.
There appears to be no hope I am doomed.

Oh don’t worry, the show is plenty interesting. And heck, you might get a kick out of the zombie looking pony characters from the last episode in the second season.

Sadly people have beat me to it, never the less I feel compelled to add my own version.
Mainly because I did it already and I can’t let that work go to waste.
Some,and I mean some, of the fan made stuff can be hilarious. Hell, I think like at least a fifth of my subscriptions on youtube are bronys.

HeHe, my dad had to watch old MLP and Strawberry Shortcake, but he also got to watch He-Man and She-Ra.
Watching He-man and she-ra isn’t exactly increasing the “manly” score. That being said, I watched it all the time growing up.
-chuckles- Indeed. Rewatching old He-man, it seems Eternia banned pants because everyone is either wearing some sort of fur thong and tights or a dress.
To say nothing of the intro monologue. “Fabulous, secret powers” indeed Prince Adam.
