The Backwater Gospel (HD) is an incredibly creepy and also an incredibly awesome animation. I love the style of this animation and the character design is incredibly. It helps that it doesn’t take a heck of a lot of imagination to imagine this as a town full of zombies who get their comeuppance. That’s not the case but I love this anyway.
This cartoon is certainly worth your precious eyeball time.
Synopsis:
As long as anyone can remember, the coming of The Undertaker has meant the coming of death. Until one day the grim promise fails and tension builds as the God fearing townsfolk of Backwater wait for someone to die.

Well that was somewhat disturbing.
I’m reading “Priest” from tokyopop right now… Compared to that this is pretty tame. Come on admit it though, it may be disturbing, but it was pretty cool.

You might of, I remember seeing it before. There’s just so much stuff out there nobody can remember it all.

I am no fan of the whole “evil” and misleading religion concept. We have seen it so many times by now and fact is, you don’t need religopn to manipulate people into doing irrational stuff.
The animation was awesome anyway and I#M still inda disturbed bythe video. It’s still good work.
I didn’t think it had much to do with religion. More with the way people will act in a stressed and fearful situation. The undertaker is the catalyst for this tragedy, but it’s ultimately the townfolk’s own flaws that cause there demise.
Yeah true. It just seemed to me the priest was very hatefull and kinda an ass.
I’m probably reading more in it than it was.
Or it was a welcome distraction from the distrubing ending.^^
Sure,but anybody can be an ass. If he wanted to make a commentary on religion I think he’d have to go much farther than this.
Of course I could be reading more into this as well. Meh it’s all a matter of opinion.
