Why Does It Always Require Human Sacrifice?
on August 26, 2011 at 4:13 amAh the poor spurned and jealous Commander, he shall get his revenge. And it looks like Lovecraft is going to soon have a bad day.
Soooooo…. Why is it that every scary thing involves a “Human” sacrifice?
I’ve never been watching a horror movie where the evil priest whips out a Gerbil and summons something horrible with that. (Slacker Evil Priests)
What? Gerbil sacrifices not good enough for you? I’ll have you know that Gerbils, spiritually speaking, are very similar to humans and are much prized by various evil entities from beyond our reality. They don’t even have to be virgins. In fact the more “experienced” the Gerbil the more valuable it is as a sacrifice.
Lol It is 12:30 for me right now. The later it gets the sillier I get. I could go on and on about the merits of Gerbil sacrifice verses Humans, but I really need sleep and I am getting a wee bit dizzy.
G’night.

There was a Buffy episode talking about that. Something about blood is life essence, so by offering blood, blah bllah blah
I miss that show, I used to watch that all the time. They need to bring that show back.
Well, at least it doesn’t require a virgin human sacrifice. Otherwise Moon might be in real trouble. :p
OH! Found this little piece an artist did. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6386157/ Looks like Ash’s girlfriend didn’t quite make it.
Link’s not working for me. I feel tremendous sadness.
I was just gonna blame it on the fact that my computer has given me no end of complete crap today. I’m serious, for every five minutes I’ve been able to do stuff I’ve had to wait another ten just for the thing to unfreeze. It’s infuriating! B[
Seems with the latest interference with nature, the site is acting sporadic.
So if they sacrifice a zombie will the rest of the humans be wiped out including Lovecraft’s new love interest?
You’ll recall Romey already performed one ritual where he sacrificed Moon. As a result Lovecraft was brought back from a fine paste to full fighting potential.
Besides there is no way I’m killing off Lt. Cooper…. I like drawing her cleavage too much. (Wow I am a pig, I’m cool with that.)
You may also recall that that same ritual is what awoke the Necronomicon and started this whole mess that they’re now in.
Well if that’s what will happen and he’s the one sacrificed then I don’t think it maters whether she’s still alive or not.
I love how the Necronomicon looks a bit pissed in the second panel. Probably because it was expecting its daily dose of cleavage.
*cough*grammar error in the last panel*cough*
Ah human sacrifices arent the worst thing that can happen to do something evil… take the third oath of the esoteric order of Dagon… *shudders* I can really think of nothing worse. Bring on the human sacrifices before that. Cthulhu fhtagn
Man, the humans can’t catch a break … I feel sorry for them.
Well, classically, there are 3 reasons for a human sacrifice:
1) Blood has power, and as humans are considered “higher” than animals, their blood has more power. Consequently, the blood of supernatural creatures is often considered even more powerful than human blood.
2) Humans, unlike animals, have souls, and some spells require a power source to keep them operating, or trigger their full effect. A soul is often considered to be very powerful, with many stories including the use of souls/spirits as a power source.
3) Sacrifice of the most valuable thing available. Human sacrifices are most often someone’s child and/or spouse, and the spellcaster’s willingness to sacrifice something so incredibly valuable and important to them indicates his dedication to the task the spell is supposed to accomplish. Many times, it is also due to the human sacrifice being a “crossing point”, where the caster steps beyond the realm of “respectable” human behaviour, resolutely pacing down the path of evil.
Of course, the Unspoken 4th reason is just because the guy who wrote the spell was a complete dick.
Why not a spell that turns all the zombies back into humans? A little less messy and a lot more fun.
Cooper seems to be looking at Lovecraft oddly. I can’t quite place it…. Flirtation? Adoration? Wanting-to-take-his-cat-for-ransom? Women are hard to read.
