The Damned: The Religion Zombie Type
on September 24, 2010 at 5:00 amI chose to do a “Voodoo” zombie for today’s comic as just doing a “Hell’s full” zombie doesn’t really look any different from the “pop culture” zombie. I needed something very distinctive for the “religious” zombie type.
Plus have you seen that movie “The Serpent and the Rainbow”? Awesome! I find Voodoo both scary and fascinating in equal measures. Plus it’s fun to draw.

This is not the venue to share your religious beliefs or the lack thereof. I assure you, I just don’t care… No really, I don’t. I just want to talk about zombies.

Yes, I have a mountain of irrefutable proof that undeniably proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that my view is 100% right, and if I were to even let you glimpse it’s radient glory you would be converted instantly to my way of thinking…

Wonderful work carter, your art I find pricless and whimsical. This poster idea I’m loving by the minute. The details in this are great, as well I get this message in my head when looking upon this as “da voodoo mon.” A very fun type of zombie that I love whole heartly it is fantastic.

Del Toro has written a vampire book which can hopfully save vampires….yea wishful thinking but Del Toro is bringing sexy back to vampires in his book “The Fall” good old fashion vampires that rape and pillage.

There’s something about this zombie type, is it bad if i have the desire to do Dark magic on my ex girlfriend and bring her back?
I don’t think so, but then again, I’m a terrible terrible person.
To make a zombie like this one though, your going to have to start practicing Voodoo, or pay a Bokor to do it for you. Otherwise your probably looking for the Magic zombie type (The Cursed).
Voodoo zombies are kind of a gray area between the Magic and Religious zombies.
If you get a chance I highly recommend a movie called “The Serpent and the Rainbow” pretty scary Voodoo movie. Very well done.

Love the Comic Man really funny though I have to argue one point about the Voodoo Zombie… they can be easy or hard as some myths with them involve shit like pouring salt in their mouths and sewing them shut
I completely agree with you. You are absolutely right.
But I’ve only got a couple of inches of space to write text in so I’m forced to generalize to a ridiculous extent.
Eventually I’d like to write a series of articles about zombies and their history and put them in the zombies defined section of the site where I can be more accurate.

AWESOME! Just love how you re-purposed the sketch. First thing that came to mind when I pulled up the site and saw this is how jaw-droppingly awesome this is. And if I were to add something for her to say, I would have her saying,”Sic’ um, boys.”
Also, in the case of her, it would probably be much harder to find and kill a zombie like her because of how few there would probably be and because of all the spirits/other zombies they could summon.

I just got through watching Fulci’s “Zombie”….. not as great as I remembered.
While people who get bit in that movie do turn into zombies. The original cause of his zombpocalypse is Voodoo…. Voodoo is scary.
